Parents in the Workforce
Most parents in lincoln work
Lincoln has a higher percentage of families with all parents in the workforce than the national average.2 Nebraska, along with other northern Great Plains states, regularly ranks as one of the top states for percentage of children with all parents in the workforce.
However, for children under age 6, this pattern has changed. In 2023:
- 67% of children under 6 years of age had all parents in the workforce. This is 2.2 percentage points lower than the U.S. average of 69%.
- 77% of children aged 6 to 17 had all parents in the workforce. This is 3.4 percentage points higher than the U.S. average of 74%.
